Responsibilities

Job Summary: 

The Estimating Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the Company has timely, accurate cost information for estimating prospective projects. The Estimating Manager is also responsible for delegating and assigning tasks for Estimating staff and working closely with the engineering and sales. The Estimating Manager is also responsible for upkeep of the Company’s pricing templates and files, which require reworking and redesigning existing Excel formulas and macros.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of the Estimating Department and staff including activities and workflow.
  • Frequent communications with Administrative, Sales, Engineering, Executives, Project Management and Operations staff as liaison for the Estimating Department for the coordination of proposals.
  • Oversee the Estimator workload, ensuring timely processing and delivery of proposals.
  • Monitor quote delivery turnarounds and track the metric daily
  • Implements technical estimating standards and procedures.
  • Review all bids or proposals prior to presentation to customers including scope specifications and requirements, project schedule and cost summary sheets.
  • Participate in daily bid review meetings, as well as internal sales and other internal/external meetings as the need arises.
  • Assist the Estimators with project estimates as needed.
  • Review, provide feedback, and evaluate performance of Estimators
  • Pre-contract estimate development.
  • Understand contract requirements.
  • Develop the estimate in accordance with the execution strategy and sales strategy.
  • Lead estimate kick off meeting for complex estimates.
  • Setup and maintain estimate files.
  • Rework and redesign Microsoft Excel formulas the estimate files.
  • Continuously improve the estimate files by continuing to add additional Excel automation (by use of formulas).
  • Update material pricing per pricing schedule requirements (components differ from daily to annually).
  • Obtain and distribute the information required to develop estimate (labor rates, site conditions, scope, schedule, specifications, subcontract strategy, quote/bids, drawings).
  • Coordinate with other team members to define and obtain information needed to estimate.
  • Ensure that the estimate efforts occur in a proper sequence, within the scheduled period and meet the requirements of the execution strategy, sales strategy, and contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all estimates are complete, correct, and accurate.
  • Lead management daily bid review meetings for jobs over $500K.
  • Control distribution of estimate documents.
  • Communicate basis of estimate to the project team.
  • Conform estimate to As Sold Contract Requirements.
  • Lead efforts in developing change order estimates, control estimates, and model estimates.
  • Assist project management in conforming the estimate to the project management tools after contract award.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Expert in Microsoft Excel (vlookup, match, indexing, Macros, etc.)
  • 2-Year Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of related estimating experience preferred
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Previous industry experience a plus
  • Experience reading plans and specifications a plus
  • Experience in steel manufacturing, epoxy powder coating, or field bolted assembly construction a plus

 

 

Required Travel:

  • Approximately 0-5%

 

Location:

  • Goodman, MO or Tulsa, OK (Preference to Goodman, MO)
