1971

Terry Warren started the first company

In 1971, Terry Warren founded the first company, focusing on protective coatings, by developing a new specialist protective coating application company for the steel industry. Over the years, the company expanded to include rubber lining, polymer divisions, and steel tank fabricating and plate processing lines in the US and Canada.

1983

Blastco is founded in Brantford

In 1983, Terry Warren founded Blastco in Brantford, Ontario specializing in field blasting and painting of water towers, aboveground storage tanks, bridges, dams, sluice gates, and other steel structures.

1989

Terry Warren formed Blastech

In 1989, acknowledging environmental regulations and escalating field coating costs, Terry Warren established Blastech. This forward-looking move introduced a cutting-edge indoor facility spanning 75,000 sqft on 10 acres in Canada, pioneering abrasive steel cleaning and industrial coating application, significantly advancing surface protection.

1998

New operations in USA

In 1998, Blastco expanded to the US, opening in California. By 2001, they secured their first Texas contract, forming Blastco, Inc., later becoming Blastco Texas, Inc. They expanded field coating services and maintenance. Achieving AMPP QP1 and QP2 certifications, they also became the first contractor with NIICAP accreditation from NACE.

1999

Terry Warren purchased Brant Corrosion Control

In 1999, Terry Warren acquired Brant Corrosion Control in Brantford, Ontario. Established in 1984, as a two-man operation, Brant initially specialized in rubber linings for small parts. As demand grew, they expanded to handle larger projects, adding liquid and powder coating services, and a roll shop for industrial coverings.

The joint venture with SSAB, swiftly gained traction in the storage tank and marine industries for its efficiency and quality processes.

2007

TF Warren acquires Tarsco

In 2007, TF Warren Group acquired Tarsco, known for tank maintenance. Under TF Warren, Tarsco expanded to offer engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction of aboveground storage tanks. This expansion enabled TF Warren to provide a comprehensive Single Source Solution, leveraging the complementary expertise of Blastech, Tarsco, Blastco, and, Brant.

2015

TF Warren Group grows and adds more services

TF Warren Group acquired USA Tank, now Tarsco Bolted Tank, in Goodman, MO, adding liquid and dry bolted storage tanks and sidewall insulation. Health, Safety and Environment

BLASTCO has demonstrated the ability to operate in a safe and conscientious manner to preserve its employees, the environment and the surrounding community.

Field work requires more planning and organization as each job site is different. Trained supervisors and management oversee job setup and progression to ensure each day functions as safely as possible. BLASTCO stresses the importance of safety for each employee and the surrounding environment to ensure both are in the same healthy condition as before the job began.

We ensure this through our attention to detail, thoughtful policies and in-depth training. We strongly believe that training and awareness are essential for employees to function as a team to keep the workplace safe and accident-free.

Training & Certifications at BLASTCO:

  • Initial and annual training
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Fall protection
  • Confined space training
  • Forklift certification
  • Lockout-Tagout training
  • Lead certification
  • Man lift training
  • GHS (Haz-Com) training
  • AMPP C-3 and annual C-5 training for all site supervisors
  • AMPP Certified Application Specialist (CAS) superintendents
  • QP1 & QP2 certification
  • NACE certification

Lead Abatement

BLASTCO has a safe and efficient system for completing the complex requirements for successful lead coating removal on older structures. It requires testing before and after the job to ensure there has not been any lead contamination to employees or environment.

Samples are taken from the air and soil of the environment and the blood of employees to monitor the level of lead being exposed to each. With this constant monitoring, it is apparent when lead contamination is occurring and appropriate measures can be taken.

The containment contraptions are also heavily monitored to be immediately aware of lead contaminated material escaping. Site supervisors are required to shut down the site until the containment can be rectified.

As always, results are heavily documented to trace BLASTCO'S health, safety and environmental responsibility.
