Lead Abatement

Not only do we apply coatings but we safely remove them as well. Lead paint is still in use on many old fabrications. When the time comes to apply a new protective coating – the lead paint is removed but needs to be contained and disposed of in accordance to regulations.

Our lead removal process is safe and responsible because:

  • Lead handling policy, plan and training are in place
  • Annual training in addition to pre-project training
  • Air monitoring data collected and tested before and after project
  • Blood lead levels of employees taken upon hire and before and after project
  • Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is notified pre-project
  • Process abides by California Code of Regulations section 1532.1
  • All lead contaminated material is contained, uniquely marked and disposed

Shop Coatings

We have the capability of applying any industrial coatings in our fully enclosed and climate controlled facility.  We offer shop coatings for tanks, piping, and structural steel prior to being installed in the field which then only touch up.  We can accommodate any diameter of pipe from 1” up to 48”.

Our coatings facility in Downey is equipped with the following:

  • 50’ Blast Booth
  • 50’ Paint Booth

Steel Pipe

Steel Pipe

Due to an increasing demand in sandblasting and painting of pipe, Blastco has recently acquired a pipe spinner machine to more efficiently sandblast and paint steel pipe. We can abrasive blast and coat the exterior of pipe with an outer diameter of 1” – 36” either in shop or in the field.

Structural Steel

Structural steel goes hand in hand with pipe – all above ground pipe require supports. With both typically using the same sandblasting and coating system, more buying power is available and that saving is reflected in the project price.

Maintenance and Repair

Maintenance and repair services can protect your investment. Preventative maintenance and timely repair will help prolong the life of your project. We can facilitate an on-site visit and evaluate the current usability and structural integrity of water storage tanks, bridges, dams, and related fabrications.

Fireproofing

Fireproofing services

The application of protective coatings to improve resistance to fire for structural steel is a growing demand due to urban expansion. The proximity of buildings requires many contractors to take advantage of fireproofing to offer the most time for emergency services to take control over the situation to prevent the spread of fire or building collapse.

Blastco’s fireproofing service begins with an examination of the site to determine if the material and conditions are suitable for successful coating application. If the site is satisfactory, Blastco's in-field abrasive blasting and coatings team will begin to prepare the surfaces for coating application. Next, the fire-retardant coating will be applied to the required specification and tested to ensure successful application.

Fireproofing is a protective coating that can be applied to a steel structure with the purpose of improving its resistance to fire for a calculated duration of time. With more time, there is a better opportunity for people to escape safely and for emergency personnel to contain the fire and limit damage.

A Blastco fireproofing project begins with an examination of the site to determine if the material and conditions are suitable for successful coating application. If the site is satisfactory, our in-field abrasive blasting and coatings team will begin to prepare the surfaces for coating application. Next, the fire-retardant coating will be applied to the required specification and tested to ensure a successful application.
