Anaerobic Digester

Anaerobic digestion is widely used as a source of renewable energy. The process produces a biogas consisting of methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and traces of other “contaminant” gases. This biogas can be used directly in combined heat and power gas engines, or upgraded to natural gas–quality bio methane. The nutrient–rich digestate that is also produced can be used as fertilizer.

Tarsco Bolted Tank has been able to meet the design requirements of different anaerobic digestion process designers and equipment manufacturers. Our tanks have been utilized in anaerobic applications requiring pressures from 5 inches of water column to as high as 20 inches of water column for systems operating in the mesophilic or thermophilic configuration.

In order to meet the design requirements of various process designers, Tarsco Bolted Tank has been able to custom design our tanks whether it be to mount mixers in the sidewall or roof, as well as providing fixed or membrane style roofs. The design may require the ability to mount various parts of the process to the tank wall. Systems can vary in diameter from 9 to 100 feet in diameter and 5 to 110 feet in height. Tanks have been provided with concrete, bolted, or welded floors.

Feedstock for an anaerobic digester can be from sources such as animal manure, food processing waste, industrial wastewater processes, as well as municipal wastewater treatment processes, virtually any source containing digestible organic waste. To be able to handle the required pH levels as well as temperature and pressure, Tarsco Bolted Tank offers different styles of bolted tank systems. These can consist of epoxy coated carbon steel tanks, stainless steel tanks, or a combination of epoxy coated carbon steel and stainless.

Most anaerobic digesters need to be insulated so that the proper operating temperature can be maintained regardless of the outside temperature. To meet that requirement Tarsco Bolted Tank can provide vertical or horizontal insulating systems manufactured for the specific tank on which it will be installed on and variable thickness based on designers requirements.
