Project Spotlight: The challenge of working in a protected wildlife conservation area in Texas called Forest Ridge in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve.

Blastco  completed the rehabilitation on a 3 million gallon welded potable water tank in Austin, TX and had to make some major adjustments to their schedule because of a certain endangered bird, the golden cheeked warbler. The scope of work included abrasive blasting and recoating the interior and exterior of the tank, structural, safety and electrical improvements. Blastco had to work around the songbirds nesting season which is March – August and is exclusive to Texas.  After the nesting season was over and it was deemed safe, the crew finished the project by the February 28, 2020 deadline.  Learn more about this project in the March Issue of CoatingsPro by clicking here.

Blastco, along with Premium Plate, Blastech Mobile and Tarsco, have worked to complete this tank project in Galveston, TX. The steel plate was provided by Premium Plate in Mobile, AL and before shipping it was blasted and primed by Blastech Mobile at the same facility. Tarsco then erected the tanks at the job site, with Blastco blasting and coating the interior and exterior. Blastco’s scope of work includes blasting the interior floor and 3’ up the shell with a phenolic epoxy, blasting and priming the exterior weld seams and applying an epoxy/urethane system over the entire tank.  The TF Warren Group of companies can provide a Single Source Solution for storage tanks, structural products and corrosion protection.

Overcoming challenges and adapting to a new situation can be vital in the ability to survive and move forward.  At TF Warren, our companies have proven that they have ability to adapt to change and get the job done. Tarsco Bolted Tank was contracted to engineer, manufacture, and erect a fire protection tank having 409,815 gallons of storage capacity located in a remote area of the New Mexico Mountains at an elevation above 7,500 feet. The only access to the tank project site was by a challenging single lane gravel road only wide enough for small vehicles. The customer was also challenged with a recently updated and accelerated schedule from the owner.  In spite of two big challenges, working at altitude in mountainous terrain and daily summer lightning storms, Tarsco Bolted Tank personnel completed the project on-time and within budget. Tarsco Bolted Tank’s flat panel design provides a smooth interior wall surface and offers outstanding performance, reliability and ease of installation. Tanks are erected from ground level with a jacking system, improving safety at the construction site as well as eliminating expensive cranes and improves our ability to work in confined spaces.  Tarsco Bolted Tank completed this 113,427 gallon carbon steel fire protection tank in Pooler, GA.
