TARSCO was contracted to supply a single source solution for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, coatings (EPFCC) and rubber lining of a large development for a new nickel processing facility.
This project included:
- (8) aboveground storage tanks ranging in size from 26’ to 50’ in diameter and 34’ to 52’ in height
- (1) API-620 shop built tank 5’10” x 19’11”
TARSCO used the expertise of Blastech and Brant, both divisions of the TF Warren Group. Blastech provided blasting and pre-priming of the tank plates to ensure high quality surface preparation, and coatings for the linings work was provided by Brant Corrosion Control consisting of the application of field applied Chlorobutyl rubber. Brant provided a unique enclosure that was approximately 60’ wide x 80’ high x 130’ long to enclose the tanks and maintain the optimal environmental conditions including steam curing at 200º F for 48 hours for the immersion-grade lining that was installed.
Due to the limited amount of available space at the site, TARSCO set up its field operation at a pier in Hamilton, Ontario. Upon completion, the tanks were loaded onto a barge and shipped via the St. Lawrence Seaway and Atlantic Ocean to the final location.
TARSCO’s single source solution to its EPC contractor and the owner illustrated the unique benefits of turnkey responsibility. TARSCO provided complete management of the many crafts involved including schedule, quality, health, and safety. By bundling the unique services required in this project, TARSCO was able to provide excellent value to the end user that no other industrial contractor can provide.
